What Are The Best Resorts To Visit in Lanzarote?
Most of the top resorts in Lanzarote lie on the southern and eastern coastlines. The northern and western areas are more mountainous with volcanic landscapes but do not be put off by this. These areas are where many of the best attractions on the island are.
Playa Blanca is the top resort in southern Lanzarote. Along the eastern coast are the resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.
Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen (Carmen Port) is one of the leading places to visit in Lanzarote, if not the best for what it offers. This popular holiday destination lies to the south of the capital city Arrecife. Both the airport and capital are on the eastern coastline of the island.
This pretty area of Puerto del Carmen is home to some of the top beaches in Lanzarote. Playa Grande (big beach) is the best beach on the eastern coast with a length of 1,200 metres. This resort also provides the best nightlife on the island. The pretty old town and marina are two of the best places to visit. These areas are where much of the nightlife is such as the bars and restaurants.

Playa Blanca – White Beach
Playa Blanca was once a small fishing village. It’s now Lanzarote’s second biggest resort. Playa Blanca is actually the newest resort in Lanzarote. It has since grown in status in a little over a decade. Located in the extreme south of the island, Playa Blanca boasts some good activities and a vibrant nightlife. There are now plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy yourself during your visit.
There are many beautiful beaches which include Playa Blanca and the gorgeous Papagayo. From here you can take the 45 minute ferry across to the island of Fuerteventura.
Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise is another of the top resorts in Lanzarote which lies on the eastern coastline. This resort boasts many of the top attractions on the island, or is close to them. There are 4 super beaches here and the biggest water park in Lanzarote. Diving and water sports are among the top activities for visitors here to Costa Teguise.
To the north of Costa Teguise are some popular attractions which many choose to visit. La Cueva de Los Verdes and Jameos del Agua are worth spending a day exploring.
When To Visit?
The island of Lanzarote enjoys some of the warmest weather in the Canaries. This is especially true during April when this island boasts the best temperatures. The start of the year usually sees an average temperature of 17-18 Celsius. Most tend to favour Gran Canaria and Tenerife during January and February.
These islands closer to Africa see more tourism leading up to spring. They are well known for having some of the warmest temperatures in Europe leading up to spring. The weather in March improves to 19 Celsius, a shade warmer than the sea temperature. More come to this beautiful location as the temperature warms further.

Puerto Calero

Arrecife
Arrecife is not a resort as such but the capital city of Lanzarote. This is the main metropolitan area where a third of the population live. Attractions include 2 castles and the port.
Arrecife airport is due north of the city. This popular area boasts many super beaches and shopping complexes
Haría
Haría is a municipality that lies inland in northeastern Lanzarote. We include this area as many of the top attractions are close by. This is also one of the lusher parts of the island.
